Troy Okum,
Project Manager

Troy’s dynamic background in local government, journalism, nonprofits, and academia equips him with the skills to manage diverse projects ranging from innovative green energy technologies to large-scale facility renovations and expansions. With more than three years of experience with local, state, and federal grant programs, Troy helps his clients navigate complex applications and compliance requirements with ease.

 

Troy’s previous role as the grant’s specialist with the Cumberland County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities helps him understand what competitive edges grant reviewers are looking for in applications, while his role as a Habitat for Humanity for the Greater Harrisburg Area board members provides him unique perspective on nonprofit priorities.

 

As a journalism student, Troy published approximately 200 news stories in local affairs, and while being a graduate research and teaching assistant at an R-1 university he assisted in publishing several research papers. These skills have imparted him with the ability to analyze dense information quickly and share it with diverse audiences in easy-to-understand terms.  With a passion for learning and engaging with new teams, Troy is ready to take any project blueprints and make them a success story.

Troy finds joy in giving back and spends significant personal time serving on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity.

 

Fun Facts:

Troy’s love of the outdoors and has taken him camping and backpacking in 19 states. Whether it was encountering black bears in the Great Smoky Mountains or navigating the Matanuska Glacier in Alaska, Troy is always searching for the next opportunity to appreciate the grandeur and majesty of nature. This passion has led him to volunteer with Penn State Extension on conservation projects that help balance our desire for new land use and recreation initiatives with stewardship and sustainability in mind.
